For some of Sonoma Creative's clients, systems like Drupal or Joomla were simply "too much" in terms of complexity or feature sets, and "not enough" in terms of flexibility, stability, and most importantly security.
Instead of trying to shoehorn client's projects into solutions that weren't a good fit, they asked us to build a Content Management solution tailored to suit their specific needs.
We designed this new system based on the CakePHP Framework and the script.aculo.us Javascript library.
Sonoma Creative continued to tap our experience in order to assist their internal development staff through the continued cultivation, development, and maintenance of this system.
Alexander Valley Winegrowers represents the culmuination of those efforts.
Again, Sonoma Creative decided to tap into our architectural experience to help create MyBrochureMaker.com. Their client wanted to create a service that functions much like Microsoft Publisher, but inside of a web browser.
The idea behind the service was to allow any user to start by choosing from what was to be a vast selection of pre-designed templates, and then to give them the ability to customize nearly every part of that template. They also needed an easy way for graphic design staff to add new templates to the system.
We not only had to learn a new technology (Adobe Flex was very bleeding edge at the time), but we also had to devise a template system that used Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) files output directly from Adobe Illustrator. Using this system, a graphic designer could create his template in Adobe Illustrator, save his project in the SVG format, and be done - with no programmer involvement.
This company was co-founded by Princess Mirah, the granddaughter of the last ruler in Bali.
Their existing website needed a major re-work, a new look, and some TLC. Instead of a lengthy rewrite, we saved them time and money by leveraging an open source shopping cart solution. We also partnered with Redeye Design LLC, who created a fresh new design.
Bali Fabrics now sells handmade batik fabrics through the new site.
We partnered with Sonoma Creative and Fit Pregnancy Magazine to create this facebook application.
